At its April Board Meeting, the VVCC Board approved using an all-in-one membership fulfillment solutions from Wild Apricot. Wild Apricot was recently ranked by Capterra as the # 1 Membership Management Software.

    Wild Apricot's fulfillment software offers

    • membership management,
    • event registration and calendar management,
    • website builder,
    • online payments,
    • email and contact database,
    • mobile apps for iOS and Android, and
    • costs less than 30% of what we were paying previously leaving more mission capability!

The Wild Apricot choice enabled the creation of new website that demonstrates the VVCC’s board commitment to serving all Verde Valley Cyclists. Highlights include:

    • A screen show on the home page with rotating pictures of member activities. Please send us pictures to include as we plan to rotate these on a periodic basis.
    • Detailed VVCC information such as our Programs, Board Minutes, Governance, Financial, and Reference Documents
    • Events organized by type (General, Road, MTB, Trail Work Days) as well as Event management (registrations, announcements, reminders, attendee tracking)
    • Random Featured Members

As we become more familiar with the system, we’ll be sure to take full advantage of it. Member suggestions are welcome.

The City of Sedona held its annual Celebration on Spring event on Saturday April 15th at Posse Grounds Park. This event is intended for families with small children. There were rides, a magician and an Easter egg hunt. There were also many groups handing out information on health, recreation, recycling, trails, etc. The Verde Valley Cyclists Coalition purchased 40 kids bicycle helmets for the event. Doug Copp and folks from the Yavapai County Health Department fitted helmets on kids, gave out bike safety information, and promoted the new Sedona Bike Skills Park. We gave away all 40 helmets and could have handed out a few more helmets.

This young man was too late, so he got his own helmet.

At it's March Board meeting, the VVCC Board voted to leave the IMBA Chapter Program and the next day gave IMBA its 60 day termination notice. As of May 8, 2017, VVCC will once again be a fully independent nonprofit corporation.

We've created a "VVCC/IMBA FAQ" which provides answers as to why the Board arrived at this decision to terminate the current Chapter Charter Agreement.

In February, the VVCC board approved two sweepings of the bike lane between the Red Rock Ranger Station and Back O Beyond road to be in compliance with our ADOT sweeping easement permit. The first sweep was conducted on February 27th and the second will be in late May. ADOT has threatened to remove the bike lane markings and signage if we let our easement expire on May 31st.

Update: The VVCC has received an easement extension through September 30th. We are currently fundraising for this effort and your tax- deductible donation would be greatly appreciated.

The VVCC just wrapped up a successful fundraising effort at the 2017 Sedona Mountain Bike Festival. The VVCC manned a booth with information on local trails, selling memberships and beer tokens for tips and a portion of the sales. We received over $900 in cash tips that will go to our trail or SR179 sweeping funds depending on which jar the tips were deposited in. We haven’t been told the beer and credit card tip totals, but 100% of those go to our trail fund. As soon as the funds are received, we'll update.

There is a great article in the Villager paper regarding sweeping the bike lanes on SR 179. If you are interested in helping to keep the SR 179 bike lanes clean, please donate to the Clean Lanes Fund here
